Publication on Safety of Work in Someone Else’s Home Now Available in Swedish and English

Home care services are common in Finland. According to the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), there were approximately 185,000 home care clients in 2023. Work done in the home differs from the traditional work environment, but it is subject to the same occupational safety regulations as work performed on the employer’s premises. It is the employer’s responsibility to identify and assess the risks associated with the work, even when the workplace is the client’s home.

To support safer and healthier work in homes, the Municipalities and wellbeing services counties sector group and service group The Centre for Occupational Safety published a guide in early 2024, aimed at employees, supervisors, occupational safety personnel, and employers. The guide is now available in Swedish and English.
