Orientation materials for newspaper deliverers

The revised Deliverers’ Occupational Safety online materials go through the most common occupational safety hazards deliverers face and ways to avoid them. The materials are available free of charge and can be used for both orientation training and independent study.

In total, newspaper deliverers experience more than a thousand accidents annually, half of which involve slipping, tripping and falling. The next most common type of accident is related to carrying loads or handling objects.

When calculated by accident frequency, in 2021, deliverers experienced 170 accidents per a million hours worked. The combined accident frequency for all industries was 25.9, and construction was at 57.7, for example.

The Deliverers’ Occupational Safety online materials go through the most common occupational safety hazards and ways to prevent them. The materials are available free of charge and can be used to support orientation training, but more experienced deliverers can also benefit from them.

The materials are available in Finnish and English.

The materials have been prepared by the Centre for Occupational Safety’s Communication Industry Occupational Safety Committee.
